Access Control
Access control is a
critical tool for security and accurate time and
attendance calculations, but traditional proximity cards
require manual presentation to a reader in order to
work.
Not only is this
approach is too slow for many enterprise operations
which require high volume, high speed entrance and exit
management, but it also is error-prone, as people can
follow others through a door without credential
presentation.
Active RFID can be used
to create an access control system or used to improve an
existing, proximity card system.
Active RFID-based
solutions uses a card or fob, which when carried on a
person is automatically read, providing “hands-free”
high speed access, eliminating the need to manually
swipe cards or punch a keypad.
In addition to
automatic identification, the system can know which
direction the person is moving and whether the person is
in or out of the facility.
The automatic
collection of this data enables interface with or
reconciliation with time and attendance systems and can
provide critical information in the event of emergency
situations or evacuations. |
